Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #28! Monkey!

Another tag for Tim Holtz's Challenge #28! This challenge is the Alcohol Ink Ombre technique, once again a new technique for me! Check out Tim’s tutorial on page 57 of  A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol.3 to see the technique demonstrated.  If you don’t have the book, you can order one directly from Tim, who will be glad to autograph it for you.

I made several tags for this challenge (it was so much fun!) and decided to enter a 2nd tag. This one contains a currently popular quote. ;)
For this tag I used Adirondack Ink Ginger, Caramel and Latte for the Ombre technique. I then added the quote from Tim Holtz's Life Quotes stamp set. (I know a lot of monkeys... Just sayin'.) The ombre rope is made using a neat embellishment I found called Sticky Stitches. It's made by Colorbok - Remember When and this is from the Primary Colors set. I had the cute monkeys and bananas in my stash. These were made by Creative Imaginations - Debbie Mumm. I popped on a butterfly, a feather and some flowers from my stash to finish it off. I hope you enjoy it. :)

And, as always, a “Curiosity Crew’s Choice” winner will receive an awesome assortment of Tim’s products, courtesy of Tim himself and Mario Rossi, his Logistic Director.

The Funkie Junkie Boutique is the sponsor of this challenge and is offering a fabulous $25 shopping spree for one lucky CC3C entrant! To be eligible to win, simply link your project to Challenge #28 at Studio L3's Blog and include a link to The Funkie Junkie Boutique in your blog post.

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #28! Inky Blues!

Time for Tim Holtz's Challenge #28!

I chose wonderful inky blues for this tag:
I started out using the technique as described in the book with Adirondak Ink colors Indigo, Denim and Mermaid. I then stamped half of Quentin's face on the side. He's from Prima's - Jamie Dougherty collection. I added Impression Obsession's Yvonne Blair's 3 Stars stamp fading down the length of the tag. I then stamped Tim Holtz's Life Quotes at the bottom. I used Jet Black Archival Ink for stamping. After it was all good and dry I wrapped a frayed ribbon around the tag near the bottom and topped it with flowers and leaves from my stash. I inked up the arrow with a statement and stuck it near the top. This was from an old Creative Memories collection I had in my stash. I then added Tim Holtz Mini Gears and topped the whole thing with some twine and a little bling. To finish it off, I bordered the tag with black cardstock.

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #27!

Time for Challenge #27! This new challenge introduces Tim’s Sizzix Alterations Embossing Diffusers. I had never used one so I had to order one before I could practice with it. LOL. It's a neat little thing that allows you to selectively emboss areas of your cards. Check out Tim’s tutorial on page 61 of  A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol.3 to see them in action.  If you don’t have the book, you can order one directly from Tim, who will be glad to autograph it for you.

On to my submission! I made a relatively simple baby boy card. My family had several babies born last year and another two are on the way this year! I also have a friend having a baby girl soon. I didn't have a baby girl stamp so I hope someone has a boy! lol.

I used my cute little purse embosser (Texture Boutique) for this project.

I started with textured cardstock form Colorbok - Cool Earth Tones. I embossed with the Lace embossing folder from Lifestyle Crafts and diffused using Tim Holtz's Sizzix Embossing Diffuser Set #1, Oval #2. I lightly ran Distress Stain - picket fence - over the embossing so it would stand out more. I also used picket fence Distress Marker to outline the oval. I added the heart shaped button from The Paper Studio Gemstones collection, the swirly stickers are from Momenta and the ribbon is from Michael's Celebrate It - Basic Narrows.

Off to clean the house now. My DS #1, his girlfriend and best buddy are flying down this evening! So excited to see them! It's bittersweet though as on Saturday they will be driving back to Indiana and taking DS #2 with them for the summer. Proud of DS #2 for finishing his first year of college!

Thanks for stopping by!

Beach Mini Album

My brother and his wife love the beach. So, for her birthday, I made this cute mini-album. I used a kit from Bo Bunny. It was a lot of fun and turned out really cute, I think.

I ended up having to add some heavy card stock to the back of the H cuz it became too floppy.

Even though her birthday was in January, Happy Birthday to Joanne! :)
